Adaptive ontology re-use: finding and re-using sub-ontologies
نویسندگان
چکیده
Starting from an ontology draft which reflects the intended modeling perspective, the ontology engineer can be supported by suggesting similar already existing sub-ontologies and ways for integrating them with the existing draft ontology. Our approach combines syntactic, linguistic, structural and logical methods into an innovative modelingperspective aware solution for detecting matchings between concepts from different ontologies. This paper focuses on the discovery and matching phase of this re-use process.

A content-focused method for re-engineering thesauri into semantically adequate ontologies using OWL
The re-engineering of vocabularies into ontologies can save considerable time in the development of ontologies. Current methods that guide the re-engineering of thesauri into ontologies often convert vocabularies merely syntactically and ignore problems arising from interpreting vocabularies as ontologies, i.e. as sets of statements of facts. Current re-engineering methods also do not make use ...
متن کاملA Methodology For Change Propagation In Health Ontology
Health ontologies are commonly used as the standardization for interoperability between different health institutions. Since health knowledge changes rapidly, health ontology also evolves frequently. A mechanism of change propagation is needed to maintain the consistency between the ontology with the dependent artefacts. In this paper, we present the classification of health ontology changes ba...
متن کاملModularization for the Cell Ontology
One of the premises of the OBO Foundry is that development of an orthogonal set of ontologies will increase domain expert contributions and logical interoperability, and decrease maintenance workload. For these reasons, the Cell Ontology (CL) is being re-engineered. This process requires the extraction of sub-modules from existing OBO ontologies, which presents a number of practical engineering...
متن کاملBuilding Ontologies by using Re-engineering Patterns and R2RML Mappings
The ontologization of non-ontological resources has led to the design of several specific methods, techniques and tools. Among those techniques, we have the Re-engineering Patterns. More specifically, we have the Patterns for re-engineering NORs (PR-NOR) that define a procedure that transforms the NOR terms into ontology representational primitives. Currently, the W3C RDB2RDF Working Group is a...
متن کاملUsing Thematic Ontologies for User- and Group-Based Adaptive Personalization in Web Searching
This paper presents Prospector, an adaptive meta-search layer, which performs personalized re-ordering of search results. Prospector combines elements from two approaches to adaptive search support: (a) collaborative web searching; and, (b) personalized searching using semantic metadata. The paper focuses on the way semantic metadata and the users’ search behavior are utilized for userand group...
